Zombi
George Romero is the creator of some of the most succesfull and wellknown zombie movies of all time. The most famous of which is probably dawn of the dead which was recently remade (very badly in my opinion!). This game has no official license for the movie but it is directly based on it so if you know the movie many of the puzzles in the game will be far easier to solve but it does not mean you have to have seen it. The story goes like this, somewhere in the near future an unknown event causes the dead to rise and the only thing they do is walk around and prey on living humans. Whoever gets bitten by one of these zombies and manages to get away will have to face a fate worse than death because they will in time become the undead as well. In all this horror a party of four is trying to escape in their chopper but they run out of fuel and have to land on top of a mall. Now they have to gather supplies from the mall and try to find fuel so they can move on.
You can control each of the four characters seperately and this is quite neccesary as well because the mall is pretty large and some puzzles will require more than one person to complete. It’s important that you don’t leave your characters hanging around because the game will continue and they might get attacked by zombies. The safest place to be is near the chopper because the zombies don’t move very well and walking up the steps is difficult for them, it’s only a matter of time before they go up though so don’t take it too slow. The main screen shows the four characters, their health and the room you are in. You can switch characters directly by clicking on their picture and you can walk around using the arrow keys on the sides of the screen. There is no indication of where you can go and where you can’t so it’s important that you explore thoroughly.
The graphics are ok and there are quite a few shops and rooms you can visit in the mall. You can see that the game is originally from France because many signs you come across are in that language. There is no music and very little sound effects other than some footsteps and the some fighting sounds. I have to admit that I really like the movie so I might be biased towards the game but even if you haven’t seen the movie the game is still a good adventure game. The only gripe I have is that the game is somewhat sort which is a bit of a shame.

| C64 | Released in 1986. Game has been tested but not completed with CCS64 v2.0 win. This has monochrome graphics to increase the detail and it doesn’t look too bad. The zombies don’t walk around but just show up and they follow you around as well. |
| DOS | Released in 1986. Game has been tested but not completed on a 286 PC. For some reason you can’t use a mouse but you select actions from icons and this makes the game rather annoying. |
