- Into the eagle's nest -

This game is based on the movie 'where eagles dare' in which a group of people in WW2 had to rescue a captured general before he would reveal vital warplans. The game changes the plot by having you play a single soldier and not only must you rescue three prisoners but you must blow up the castle they are being held in as well. Armed with only a rifle you must take on hordes of Nazi soldiers who are inside the mazelike castle.

The entire game is played from a topdown view making the feel of the castle even more mazelike but it allows you to see enemies who are in different rooms which is not a bad thing. You start outside the castle with a single key which you have to use to get in, you will have to find keys to open steel doors but wooden doors can simply be shot open. There is no use in trying to remain stealthy because the enemy is already aware of your presence and you'll simply have to shoot all the guards inside the building. You have 99 bullets at the start but you can get more ammo which is lying around some of the rooms but don't waste it because if you pick it up while you are already at the max (99 bullets) then the ammo will be gone forever. You're gonna need the ammo because there are tons of guards walking around but don't go shooting like crazy because you might hit a box of dynamite which leads to instant death. Normally you are able to take up to 50 hits from enemy soldiers but none of them use firearms against you so stay behind an object and take them out from a distance and you won't get hit.

Into the eagle's nest is a fun game to play dispite the fact that enemy AI is totally nonexcistent and they line up to be shot by you. Rescueing the prisoners and blowing up the castle is a big task nonetheless simply because of the shear number of enemy soldiers and the mazelike levels. All the different versions here are pretty much the same so choose whichever you want and blast away.
