- Dino eggs -

I was looking for this game a while ago but because it had been such a long time since I last played it I thought it was called jumpman. After playing jumpman I realized that it wasn't the game I was looking for but now I found it. Dino eggs is a platform game like many others made in it's time, you jump from platform to platform and the levels are contained in one screen. Pretty much all games in those days had a story and this one goes like this: You are a time traveller and while exploring the timeline you accidently infect the dinosaurs with the common measles. The dinosaurs have no resistance against this desease and they are doomed to perish. Since you are responsible you have took it upon yourself to resque the dinosaurs by collecting their eggs and transporting them to the future where they can live on.

Each level consist of several platforms some of which are connected by a ladder. There are rocks lying around which you have to push over to see if there are any eggs beside them, if there are any you can take up to three of them and go back to the warpportal where you can bring them to safety. Once you are in the warpbubble you can't be hit by the creatures so use it when you are in a difficult spot. If you warp in and out you will reappear on a random spot on the level and the eggs will be gone so you can collect some more. You don't have to collect all eggs on a single level but if you don't you will lose points for every egg you leave behind. If you get hit by snakes while carrying eggs they will be contaminated and you'll drop them and lose a few points. You can take them out by dropping rocks onto them or building a fire by using two pieces of wood together. Once in a while the mother dinosaur will appear and she will try to crush you for taking her eggs. The only thing you can do is to run because you're not safe even inside the warp bubble.

Dino eggs is a fairly standard platform game but it gave you some extra things you could do instead of only jumping around the levels which sets it apart from the others. I used to play this quite often when I first had a C64 but this is a kind of game that doesn't stand the test of time very well but given the release date of the game (1983) this isn't bad at all so why not give it a try.

Overal rating: 7/10
