- Bad street brawler -

Bad street brawler is an early fighting game in which the screen scrolls while you walk around beating up baddies. You will encounter some really weird enemies like angry old ladies who throw their bags at you and gorillas, ofcourse there are also the standard knifewielding thugs and karate guys around as well. Some levels have a boss character at the end but not on all of the levels. Your and the baddies' health is represented by a health bar and obviously when you get hit you loose some until finally you lose a life. Nothing different from all the other fighting games so far but there is a difference to the game. Each level you have two completely different moves at your disposal which you can use to fight, these include some really bizarre moves like spinning a person above you head and putting them halfway into the ground. Altough you have a limited amount of moves the fact that they change each level keeps the game from getting boring quickly.

In another twist you cannot jump infinately in this game, the character can jump very high but if you do this several times in a row he will get tired and you will only jump a very short distance. You can start the game on levels 1-3 but to me it's a mystery why, I'm not sure exactly how many levels there are in total but I played to the fifth level.
Bad street brawler is pretty fun for a while but I don't think it will last for very long given the time it took me to reach the fifth level. Still even then you should check out this wacky beat'em up.

Overal rating: 6.5/10

This game was released for three different systems here are some notes:
C64 Released in 1987.
Game has been tested but not completed with CCS64 v2.0 win.
This looks and plays exactly like the DOS version (or should it be the other way around?).
DOS Released in 1987.
Game has been tested but not completed on a DOS PC.
NES Released in 1990 by Kemco.
Game has been tested but not completed with FCE ultra v0.98.12.
This looks a bit different with really small sprites and at the end of the level the guy throws stuff from under his shirt into a bin but I have no idea what this is supposed to be.
