- Wings of fury -

It is 1944 and the world is at war. The european continent is in flames and in the far east the war wages on another front. The U.S. navy are able to match their enemy partly due to the great F6F Hellcat fighterplane. It is powerful, durable and can carry different bombs giving it a multirole purpose. You are a fighter pilot assigned to the U.S.S Wasp aircraft carrier and your mission is to destroy enemy bases, planes and ships that treathen your home base.

You start the game by selecting a difficulty setting that ranges from midshipman to captain. The setting changes the number of objectives you have to complete to finish a mission. Each mission requires you to destroy a certain amount of enemy island and/or ships. Your plane can carry three different types of bombs to take out different objects, rockets to destroy planes, normal bombs to destroy houses and a single torpedo to take out ships. You can only carry one type at a time so when you want to change weapons or if you have run out then you have to land on the carrier to restock or change them. The one weapons that you always have is your trusty cannon which can take out enemy planes and troops on the ground. After completing your objective you can return to the carrier to receive a new mission.

Wings of fury is a good action game but there is not a lot of variation because all islands and all carriers are the same. Later on you will also be attacked by enemy fighters but after completing only a few missions there is very little extra's added to keep you interested which is a shame. While it lasted I had fun with it though so I suggest you give it a try.

Overal rating: 7/10

This game was released for several different systems here are some notes:
Apple Released in 1989.
Game has been tested but not completed with the ActiveGSapp R4.
Graphics look quite bad for what the apple is capable off, it's the worst of the lot.
Amiga Released in 1990.
Game has been tested but not completed with winUAE v0.9.91.
Definately the best as far as graphics and gameplay is concerned.
Amstrad CPC Released in 1990.
An ok version, it looks a lot like the C64 version but doesn't play as smooth. It's a French version but it doesn't hurt gameplay much, there's also a trainer.
C64 Released in 1990.
Game has been tested but not completed with CCS64 v2.0 win.
The title screen flashes strangly but the rest of the game seems to work ok.
DOS Released in 1989.
Game has been tested but not completed on a DOS PC.
Runs really fast so slow it down with moslo or use a slow pc (286/386).
Others These versions are not available.
Game boy color released in 1999.
