- Spike's peak -

This is the probably the first game I ever owned on my C64. Because of this I probably remember this game because as far gameplay is concerned there is really nothing special about this game, except maybe that tune stays in your head when you die.

Spike's peak is a simple platform game where you, Spike, has to climb to the top of the mountain while avoiding rockslides, dangerous animals and the weather.
At the start of each level you have to get from the bottom of the screen to the top and collect alle the items. In total there are four levels, some of which you can walk/jump across and some you will have to climb as well.
Along the way all sorts of animals block your way and falling rocks and bad weather don't help either, touch most of these and you loose a life. You get only three lives and after that it's back to the base of the mountain.

Apart from the aforementioned death tune there's the main tune which you will hear at the start of each level, it's quite catchy actually despite being very short. Sound effects are very basic rocks falling and animals yelling that sort of thing.
The game is fairly easy and can be completed in 10-15 minutes depending on your reflexes but overall shouldn't prove much of a challenge. The Atari 2600 version can be quite annoying though as some animals move extreemly fast.
I put this game up because I remembered it so well but as a game it's pretty average, I recommend the C64 version if you'd like to give it a try.

Overal rating: 6/10

This game was released for C64 and Atari 2600:
Atari 2600 Released in 1983.
Game has been tested but not completed with Stella 1.4.1.
At first I thought this game didn't work because some of the sprites looked like there was an error, I later found out this was by design and they are supposed to resemble a mountain stream :).
C64 Released in 1984.
Game has been tested and completed with CCS64 V2.
Graphics are very colorful and the controls are excellent. If you scroll from one level to another there is some screen flickering but apparently this was because of the PAL conversion.
