- Matchpoint -

In the early days of computer games many of the games were very simplistic and contained nothing more than the bare minimum to actually be called a game. Matchpoint is only one notch above that and it's a tennis game but don't expect anything fancy. You can select to play the quarter-finals, semi-finals or the finals. Each level makes the game more difficult by simply increasing the speed of the players. You can also select to play a two players game or to view a demo with the computer in control of both players. In the match itself there is the serve and return play which are the only two plays available to you, no effect balls, no smashes or anything else.

The graphics are pretty simple and the only thing that I noticed about them are the two ball catchers that stand on the side of the field, something I rarely see in other tennis games. Like so many other games in my collection I added this game mainly for nostalgic reasons and for completions sake because even compared to other games of the time it's really nothing special.

Overal rating: 4/10

This game was released for Three different systems here are some notes:
Amstrad CPC Released in 1984.
Game has been tested but not completed with winAPE v2.0 A6.
This version actually looks alright but the rest of the game is the same as the others.
C64 Released in 1984.
Game has been tested but not completed with CCS64 v2.0 win.
For some reason the players run really slow in the quarter finals.
ZX Spectrum Released in 1984.
Game has been tested but not completed with emuZwin v2.5.
The simplest of the version with the characters consisting of only one color.
