The full title of this game is: More Adventures of Big Mac the Mad Maintenance Man while the title screen removes the ‘more adventures’ part. I have no idea what the backstory of the game is but I do know that Mac the maintenance man has to go into a power station and turn off all the power vaults. Each of these vaults is actually one level of the game, there are a total of 18 in all.

Turning off the vaults is as easy as turning off a switch but before you get to the switch you will need to get past a host of difficult to read switches, defensive barriers and even robots shooting at you. You will have to disable the barriers and avoid those that you cannot by jumping around on ladders, ropes and platforms. To make things even more difficult each room only has a limited amount of air and if it reaches zero you lose a life. If you do manage to turn off the power vault you are rewarded with an extra life or men as the game calls it.

The first couple of screens are easy enough but it quickly turns difficult so the 18 levels which are basically the entire game will last a bit longer than you think. Sadly though once you do beat the game there is no ending and you will just get send back to level 1.
Throughout the game is a tune playing, I remember it from somewhere but I can’t figure out where from, it’s very catchy though.

Even when this game was first released it was a budget title, costing only 1,99 Pounds which got you a cassette and a basic manual. For the time it was a great value item, today the game does show it’s considerable age but is still very much worth playing.

Overal rating: 8/10
