- Bruce Lee -

If you haven't heard of Bruce Lee you've probably been living in the bushes for the past few decades. Known as one of the most influentual martial artists even today ofcourse he would have his own game simply known as Bruce Lee.

The object of the game is to fight and find your way through a labyrinth of rooms to try and read the center where the wizard awaits you. Defeat him and you will rewarded with untold riches beyond your wildest dreams. Only two enemies will try to stop you, a ninja with his deadly sword and a big green sumo wrestler. You can stop them by kicking and punching or even using some of the hazards which stand in your way like exploding traps but they will not stay down for long and will come back at you after a while. These two warriors are but a minor distraction compared to the other dangers facing you: moving platforms, explosions, swords and even laserbeams.

There aren't levels as such but each area consists of several screens with several levels which you can reach by climbing or falling, sometimes you must open trapdoors to get to otherwise unreachable areas. The only way to advance to the next area is to collect all the lanterns hanging around. You'll have to do some nifty acrobatics because some falls will require you to do some perfect timing as not to be cut down by laserbeams or knives stopping your fall. Some areas are so dangerous even the ninja and sumo wrestler will not follow you!

Bruce Lee is a perfect example of an action game of the mid eighties, there is no long story and the goal is just to reach the last screen where the main bad guy hangs around. Once you defeat him you simply start all over again without so much as a congratulations.
The game is executed very well though, the two enemies aren't very spectacular but on some levels they add just a little bit of extra challenge, strangly not all versions give them the same abilities like in some they can climb but in others not. The main difficulty is the maze itself with its splits second timing and perfect jumps you have to do. In some of the later areas you will be pulling you hair out because just getting past a single screen requires you to zigzag all over the screen and at the last second you get hit by a laser. Like all the games of those era you simply get send back to the start to do it all over again, back luck for you mr. Easymode!
In a nutshell, this game is great and a must have.

Overal rating: 9/10

This game was released for many different systems here are some notes:
Apple Released in 1984.
Like always it looks a bit off but the apple version plays well.
Amstrad CPC Released in 1986.
This is rather unplayable, the controls are very unresponsive and this makes for a very bad experience.
BBC Micro Released in 1985.
Ugh it looks bad and plays bad, what else can I say.
C64 Released in 1984.
Hands down the best version of the game, just get this one and forget the rest.
It also has an infinite lives trainer, but some parts are no less difficult because of this.
DOS Released in 1987.
Only a CGA version was released, you can do some settings in dosbox to make it look like EGA but I prefer to just get the C64 version.
ZX Spectrum Released in 1984.
The graphics make some levels annoying because it's hard to see amoving dot with these type of graphics, still it plays very well.
Others

These versions are not available.
Atari 8-bit released in 1984.
There are many others released as well as remakes and fanversions you can find.
