- James bond 007: A view to a kill -

A view to a kill was the fourteenth movie in the James Bond series. It spawned an action game which took three scenes from the movie and put you in charge of 007 himself. This game starts from the first scene where James comes across the body of agent 003 who has a microchip in his posession. This tiny chip will lead you to Max Zorin and eventually his plot to flood Sillicon Valley so he can take over the industry, it's up to you to stop him before it is too late.

The game takes the form of interactive fiction so you'll have to type in precisely what James is supposed to do. Altough the game doesn't follow the plot of the movie exactly it does so in general and at least knowing what happens can help you with the game. Some of the things you have to do are quite obscure though like opening a submarine with a ski pole. But like many other interactive fiction titles the most difficult thing is to think of how you are supposed to take action and typing it in as this isn't a simple case of clicking like in graphical games.

I played of a lot of interactive fiction back in the early days and most of them didn't have any fancy licensed content. On the one hand it takes a bit of the imagination out of the interactive fiction but on the other hand it can provide a lot of interesting situations in which you thought what if this happened in the movie. The parser isn't on par with the infocom games but it's not too bad and it can understand some longer input as well. Why not step into agent 007's shoes and save the world you might actually enjoy it!

Overal rating: 7/10
