- Scroll, the -

The scroll was previously released as 'daughter of serpents' but it adds some extra screens and full speech but the game is basically the same. The game is an adventure set in Egypt and you can play as either an occultist or egyptologist, whichever one you choose the main story is the same but how you get there is quite different. The introduction shows a man coming of a boat and being killed by a man with two knives, the assasin is shot but before he dies changes into a lizardman. This event sets the tone as you will become part of this strange happening.

Whichever path you choose you start the game outside the Savoy hotel and after you check in you can start your adventure. The first thing to do is to get a map of the city as you cannot reach some places without it, luckily there is a shop near the hotel. Getting the map will also get you a booklet which allows you to access the games options and save/load screen very handy! Altough at the start you have no idea what is going on you can soon find some clues in a nearby shop in the form of a small statue with a snakehead. Through contacts at the museum and perhaps some less savory characters in the city you will soon find more information which will eventually lead you to the origin of the lizardman assasin.

The game is played from a firstperson view and objects are simply dragged and dropped where you need to use them. The inventory system is a bit awkward as you drag items to the bottom of the screen but some sides lead to different actions. The booklet and map you get at the start is vital because you can only save your game from this booklet which is quite bizarre but a nice touch. Graphics are scanned and altough mostly static are of good quality. Sound and music are good and fit the mood well, the fullspeech throughout the game adds a lot fo atmosphere and it's the main addition from the previuos release.

Altough I admit never playing daughter of serpents this game is pretty much the same apart from the added speech. The fact that you can play the game as two different characters is a definate plus and adds to the replay value. Unfortunately the game's still very short especially the egyptologist part, still I had fun while it lasted so I can recommond it for some easygoing adventuring.

Overal rating: 7.5/10
