- Jupiter lander -

This is one of the oldest games that I remember for my Commodore 64 and it has just enough gameplay to be actually called a game. You control a spacecraft and your task is to land the ship on a planet, in this case most likely Jupiter. There are thrusters which control your left and right speed as well as a main thruster for upwards thrust. There are three places where you can land and each has a different difficulty level, the easiest is a simple case of setting the craft down but with the hardest path you must navigate carefully intro a small cavern. The descent is mainly controlled by gravity so you have to make sure that you don't fall down too fast or your ship will be destroyed. On your right is a handy bar which shows the exact speed at which you should travel to succesfully complete your mission.

Apart from the three landing spots there aren't any other levels to the game which pretty much destroys replayability. This problem is something which all old gamse have as it wasn't a real priority in those times. The graphics aren't much to look at but once you get close to the landing site the view zooms in, amazing! :) This game will most likely be lost to the majority of people out there but I found it fun again to play such an old classic, maybe you could have a go or two.

Overal rating: 6/10

This game was released for two different systems here are some notes:
C64 Released in 1982.
I'm not sure which of the two versions is the original but this one has slightly improved graphics.
VIC-20 Released in 1982.
This is controlled with the keyboard only and as such you have 3 different power levels with which to use the main thruster which makes it easier to control.
