- Caveman Ugh-lympics -

Caveman Ugh-lympics is a parody on the wellknown games series by epyx where players compete in several sporting events. This game gives you six different events to play and you can choose from six competitors each with their own specialities for some events. The events in question are: saber race, mate toss, firemaking, clubbing, dino race and the dino vault. Whoever gets the most points at the end of the series is the winner.

Each event is played in turn with some events played with two players simultaniously, here is an overview of each event.
- Saber race: played with two players and each has to run as fast as they can across an obstacle course while running from a saber tooth cat (no NOT tiger), you can push your opponent out of the way to get a head start.
- Mate toss: Toss your mate as far as you can, you do this by spinning them around in a circle and releasing them at the appropriate time.
- Firemaking: make fire with two sticks as fast as you can but keep an eye out for your opponent or he might hit you on the head and put out your fire.
- Clubbing: fight against another opponent using clubs, you win by either knocking him out or hitting him off the mountain:
- Dino race: race an opponent across an obstacles course riding dinosaurs, you can hit your dino on the head for a quick speed boost but if you hit him too hard he'll get confused.
- Dino vault: polevault across a big meat-eating dinosaur, if you don't make it you might fall down the mountain or land right into the mouth of the hungry animal.

Caveman Ugh-lympics is great fun to play with a couple of friends as are almost all these types of games. The fact that you can cheat a bit during events is a nice touch as when playing against human opponents you can bet they will use any tactics they can to win. The graphics and sounds are good with large characters altough at times the response times are a bit slow. For anyone who likes the games series this is a must have and other should have a go as well because you won't regret it.

Overal rating: 8/10

This game was released for three different systems here are some notes:
C64 Released in 1988.
The first version and in my opinion the best. The crude graphics and the C64's large pixel fit the game well. The diskswapping can be a bit annoying though.
DOS Released in 1989.
No sound effects to write home about in this version but the graphics are somewhat clearer though I prefer the C64 one.
NES Released in 1990.
Altough released last the graphics are worse than the other versions, gameplay is still great and the extra button on the controller will make some events easier to do.
