- Card sharks -

Card sharks is game all about playing cards (duh) and you can select from three different games namely poker, hearts and blackjack. Poker is subdevided into five card . You can select up to three players to join you from six different opponents featuring such colorfull characters as Gorbatjov, Ronal Reagan and Marget Thatcher. The aim is simple you start with a set amount of money each and the one who takes all the opponents money wins.

Poker should be wellknown among cardplayers but here is a quick recap of the rules. You get a set amount of cards depending on which type of game you play and you will have to try to get some cards that combine well together. The simplest is getting a pair of same cards but you can try to get higher value combinations like a straight (5,6,7,8,9 for instance) or a full house (three of one kind combined with a pair). You can only ask one time to get new cards and in between you can bet money depending on what your opponents bet and what you think your cards are worth. The fun thing about poker is that you don't need good cards to win a hand because you can bluff your opponents into thinking you have good cards by placing high bets until one of them calls you bluff that is.

Blackjack is a favorite among betters, you get two cards at the start and your aim is to get as close as 21 points as possible. Face cards are worth 10 points and an ace is worth 11 or 1 depending on what other cards you get. Unless you get a face card and an ace at the beginning which means blackjack and a win you can keep asking for cards until you either stop, go over 21 at which point you automatically lose or when you get seven cards which will also win you the game. There are some extra rules like when you get two of the same card at the start you can split them and bet on both hands.

Hearts to me is the least well known, the entire deck is devided among the players and at the start each player can select three cards to give away to the next player which gives you the opportunity to get rid of some high value cards. The game couldn't be simpler though as one player has to put a card on the table and all the other players can place a card of the same type on the table. If you don't have a card of the same type you can place any other card and whoever has the highest value card that is of the same type has to take all cards, which are no longer used, and will have to place the first card on the table again. The point is to try and lose all your cards while getting the least amount of cards in your pile especially any cards of the heart type. After all cards are devided the score is calculated by the amount of heart and other cards in your posession.

Card sharks is quite a fun card game and it's clear the game doesn't take itself too seriously with opponents like Ronald Reagan. The opponents add a nice touch to the game as staring at a bunch of cards can be boring and the players will make comments or jokes at times to break the mood a bit. The three types of games are fairly well known and the rules aren't too difficult to understand if you haven't played them before so it's easy to pick up. That said if you don't like card games then it's doubtfull you will enjoy this game but if you do then give this one a go.
