- Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, the -
Infocom is probably the most wellknown developer of interactive fiction, back then also known as text adventures. The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy is a humerous interactive fiction title based on the book of the same name. I have to admit that I have never actually read the book but from what I heard the first part of the game is straight out of the book but after that the game takes an entirely different route.

The game start with you in bed and a bad hangover, after you turn on the lights and get your bearings you should find a painkiller to help you steady yourself. Soon though loud crashes outside your house will get your attention and when you investigate you find out that they are going to destroy your house. This leads to a bizzar series of events in which you find out your friend is an alien and he helps you get out before earth is destroyed to make way for an interstellar spaceway, if you listen to him that his. After that you and your friend Ford will travel the galaxy and have many adventures and basically get into a lot of trouble. Along the way you will encounter many strange things and get into weird situations that you must puzzle your way out off including that famous babel fish puzzle you keep hearing about.

The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy is considered by many to be one of the funniest and most rewarding pieces of interactive fiction that has been released. However be aware the game is very hard and it's easy to die or get stuck when you forget to take an item. From the moment you start the game you will encounter many things that make the game more whole because it gives much better responses than most games in the genre. Instead of the standard "I don't understand that" routine it gives you many different responses and some events are hilarious as well such as when you are run over by the bulldozer in the beginning of the game and you are dead you can still type in thing while you are being taken away by an ambulance. All this adds up to a great game so fans of the genre and the book should not miss this game.
