- Zybex -

Back in the days of the C64 games were made a only two or three people, sometimes just one. This was because things like graphics and sounds weren't so advanced that they required a single person to make them. Zybex is one such game and it is a horizontal sidescrolling shooter like R-type. There is no backstory but seeing as most of the story back then was told from the manual this is not unusual, however if there is a story you can be sure it's the basic kill all the baddies on the way to the evil (fill in blank space here).

You control a guy in a spacesuit that can fly all around the screen and you are armed with a laser with which you can take out any enemies. The screen scrolls at a really fast pace and the enemies will come up to you shooting so be prepared to take them out fast. Not all of them come in a pattern but some just scroll with the screen, many of them however will drop items which can increase your firepower or give you an orb that protects you. The levels aren't very varied and there are some obstacles but mostly they are pretty dull I'd say.

You can play the game with one or two players simultaniously which is a definate plus as many horizontal scrollers did not have this option at the time. However the game is pretty bland and doesn't offer much compared to some excellent shooters released even back then. You can give it a try if you really like shooters but I doubt you'll get much fun out of it unless you know the game from your past or something.

Overal rating: 4/10

This game was released for one system here are some notes:
C64 Released in 1985.
Game has been tested but not completed with CCS64 v2.0 win.
The player selection screen is rather weird, you have to select either one or two players first but the button to start the game is located in the middle.
