- Zorro c64 -

Zorro is pretty well known as the masked rider who carves a Z into things after he has done his thing. This game however doesn't rely on speedy reflexes but instead it is a puzzle game. When you start the game you see a lady being kidnapped and if you follow the kidnapper you will find that he has locked the woman up in a castle which is unfortunately not reachable yet. You have to figure out how to get there and there will be plenty of puzzles along the way to stop you from completing your quest.

The game starts near the bar and you will find that Zorro can climb and walk around the place. Soon enough however you will find objects lying around the screens that will aid you in your quest but you will have to figure out how to get them. For instance when you go down the well you find yourself in an underground cavern and when you cross it you will see an item lying at the back of the room which can be reached from another room but only if you can rise the wall blocking it. You will have to figure out how to do this but many of the puzzles are not restricted to one room and there is a good chance that objects in a different room can help you solve them. Unfortunately Zorro can only carry a single item with him at one time so you will have to do a lot of running around trying to find the answer.

Altough many games have been made about movies and/or tv-series but most of them have failed because movies don't make good games and vice versa. The games that did do well are often ones that don't literaly copy the formula but make something up of their own. This is such a game and altough it has little to do with the movie the puzzles are quite fun without being too difficult to figure out. I can recommend this game to anyone looking for a different sort of puzzle game.

Overal rating: 7.5/10
