- Rush'n attack -

Rush'n attack (Russian attack get it?) ,aka green beret, is a sidescrolling game where you control a green beret who has to rescue several prisoners of war. You are armed only with a knife at first but some of the enemies will drop weapons for you to pick up like flame throwers and rocket launchers. After you take out three levels filled with baddies you can rescue the prsioners but then it's on to the next set of levels.

Each level consists of several floors where you can walk around and there are ladders between them so you can dodge some of the enemies by moving to different levels. Most enemies are your plane soldiers who simply follow you around until they either lose you or you take care of them. Occasionally you will see a guard in a white suit lying around and if you are able to take him out you will get a special weapon like a flamethrower or a rocket launcher. These special weapons will actually go through enemies so if you aim well you can take out several of them in one blast. Unfortunately they have very limited ammo so use it well before you are reduced to using your knife once more. At the end of the levels are usually a bunch of guards waiting for you and they will come at you in droves. Sadly this green beret isn't too tough because at the slightest touch of an enemy he will die and you will be send back a bit in the level.

The graphics aren't really great but they get the job done. There are some weird things in their like when you stab someone dies they instantly turn into skeletons and when you shoot a bazooka at someone it just passes through him and on to the next victim. Green beret is a game that I used to play quite often and even though the variety isn't great it's still quite fun to play. It's not an easy game but it's good to have a challenge once in a while compared to the ease of many modern games. Check it out.
