- Xenomorph -

Xenomorph is an RPG that uses an engine similar to that of dungeon master and it shows your surroundings in the main screen with the rest of the screen taken up by your character and arrows for moving. The story shows your space ship making an emergency landing near a mine but once you arrive you find the place strangely quiet. After donning your space suit and helmet you quickly go out to find out what has happened.

At first glance the place seems completely abandoned but soon you are visited by some automated drones which seem to have lost control and immediately start attacking you. By going through the complex you will find clues and notes that give you an idea of what has happened here before you arrived. When you go deeper into the mine you come across hostile aliens who, no doubt, have something to do with the dissapearance of the miners. Can you find out what happened and make it home safely or will you end of the victim of the aliens?

This game was released not long after dungeon master as popular games always get 'clones' very quickly but I had never heard of it until now. That doesn't mean the game wasn't any good or anything but it's probably because there were so many games released that used the dungeon master formula that is simply went unnoticed in the crowd. I think the game is not bad only the story is a bit cliche, this may not have been the case when it was released but nowadays it's pretty standard. If you don't mind that however I'm sure you can get some fun out of the game.

This game was released for several different systems here are some notes:
Amiga Released in 1990.
Game has been tested but not completed with winUAE v0.9.91.
Mostly the same as the DOS version but as is often the case the amiga the loading times are the longest.
C64 Released in 1990.
Game has been tested but not completed with CCS64 v2.0 win.
For some strange reason this is the only version which has a (tiny) intro and it allows you to select one out of four characters.
DOS Released in 1990.
Game has been tested but not completed on a DOS PC.
I couldn't get this to run on a windows 2000 machine. The graphics support VGA but they look like EGA graphics.
Others This version is not available.
Atari ST released in 1990.
