- Zool -

These days nobody notices anymore when you see advertising in a computer game but back in the 90's this wasn't very common. Zool takes it a step further however and the game was sponsered by Chupa Chups so the main object of the game is to collect as much candy as possible and get to the end while avoiding or taking out monsters.

The character zool is a masked creature and he is very agile which enables him to make large jumps and climb straight up walls. He can use three different attacks to defeat enemies and that is to jump on top of them, throw candy at them or to use a spinning attack while in midair. You can collect powerups like shields, smart bombs and a mirror image of yourself that trails after you like a ghost.

This is basically a platform game with a lot of sponsered pictures scattered throughout the levels and I'm amazed at why they made this game. It does nothing any other platform game hadn't already done before it's time and the addition of a sponsor doesn't add anything either. It must have been worth the effort I guess because there were also sequels made for various systems. The one thing I do have to admit is that they made an alrighty DOS version and it contains the same smooth scrolling and gameplay that the console versions have so I'll give them credit for that. Other than this though there is little I can recommend this game over other platformers so unless you love those type of games there is little for you to be had here.

This game was released for several different systems here are some notes:
DOS Released in 1993.
Game has been tested but not completed on a DOS PC.
Although less colorfull and the sound is no good the scrolling is very smooth, from a technical standpoint this is pretty unique as far as PC games go.
Megadrive/
Genesis
Released in 1993.
Game has been tested but not completed with WGens v2.11.
The most detailed version with multilayered background but it doesn't make the game any better.

Master system

Game has been tested but not completed with Dega v1.12.
Not as detailed as it's big brother but basically the same game.
